EASILY Import Your Wallet’s Private Key With Krystal’s Latest Feature

●   4 min

We’ve launched a brand new feature that will make importing wallets a breeze!

Importing a wallet from another application can be quite troublesome, as you’ll need to:

  1. Copy your private key (most likely from the desktop)
  2. Paste it into a shared platform on mobile and desktop (e.g. Telegram)
  3. Transfer it over to your mobile wallet

Transferring your seed phrase on a 3rd party app may not be the most secure way, as there may be malware that tracks what you’re typing on your devices!

With our new private key scanner, you can now capture and transfer 64-digit-alphanumeric-strings in less than 1 second!

Here’s how it works:

#1 Go to Settings > Manage Wallets

#2 Select the “+” icon at the top right hand corner and select “Import Wallet”

#3 Select the network to import your wallet

*If you select the Multi-Chain wallet, you will not be able to import a wallet via your private key. You will need to select a network-specific wallet (either EVM-compatible or Solana-compatible).

You can find out more about the difference between these 2 types of wallets here:

#4 Select ‘Private Key’ and select the scan icon

There are 3 different ways that you can import a wallet on Krystal, and you are only able to use the scanner for a private key.

If this is too much of a hassle, you can tap on the scanner icon directly on the homepage, and this will bring you to the scanner page right away.

#5 Obtain your private key from the previous wallet

The next step will be to find the private key in the crypto wallet that you’re previously using.

To obtain your private key, you can follow these steps based on the wallet you’re using:

This private key is very important as it will give full control of your assets to anyone who has it. It is very important that you keep it safe!

#6 Use the camera function to scan your private key

You can use the camera function on our app to retrieve your private key either via text or a QR code.

What’s the difference between a private key and a seed phrase?

A private key is specific to a single wallet, while it is possible to have multiple wallets under the same seed phrase.

You can think of a private key as a subset of the seed phrase. Each wallet has its own private key, while a seed phrase can store multiple wallets (and private keys).
